Blue Solutions supported ocean conservation and sustainable development from 2013 to 2021. This initiative promoted global knowledge exchange, capacity development, and policy dialogue to achieve goals of the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Agenda 2030. Taking a positive approach based on solutions, this initiative worked closely with practitioners, governments, regional organisations, and other partners in their path to achieve healthy oceans for sustainable development.
Blue Solutions developed new training courses on Marine Spatial Planning (Blue Planning in Practice), Sustainable Blue Economy, and Blue Leadership. These highly participatory courses were delivered in numerous countries and regions of the world such as Brazil, Costa Rica, Myanmar, Namibia, South East Asia (COBSEA region) and Senegal. The materials of these courses are open-source and available in the Blue Capacity Development Hub. Identifying and promoting solutions as well as enabling their wider application has been the role of Panorama Blue, which hosts an increasingly number of marine and coastal best practices worldwide. The legacy of Blue Solutions remains alive through both platforms to the benefit of the ocean community.
