Working for the ocean and its people

I aim to contribute to a world where every human being can thrive along with the non-human life on this planet. My work centres on caring for oceans and coastal ecosystems, and for the people connected with these environments. I work at the intersections between society, natural science, and policy, to foster cooperative and interdisciplinary approaches for addressing the social and environmental challenges of our century, aiming for just, equitable and environmentally regenerative outcomes.

What I Bring

I have over two decades of experience in coastal and marine management, marine spatial planning, ocean governance, and sustainable ocean and coastal development. I started my career with a strong technical and scientific focus, but I rapidly understood that complex sustainability challenges can only be solved through inclusive, interdisciplinary, and collaborative approaches. I bring a lot of experience in facilitation and capacity building for cooperation and stakeholder participation, especially in the context of marine protected areas and marine spatial planning, sustainable coastal and ocean policy, ocean governance, and sustainable blue economy development.

My Focus Areas

  • Leadership in Governance & Policy Shaping
  • Catalytic Knowledge & Insight Generation
  • Collaborative Facilitation & Transformative Engagement

In My Own Words

″We urgently need profound systemic transformation, to build societies and economies centred on care – care for each other, and for the blue planet we call home.″

Skills: Environmental Governance Ecosystem-based Management Marine Spatial Planning Ocean Policy Participatory Processes Stakeholder Engagement facilitation and capacity building sustainable blue economy development
