Gentoo Penguin (Pygoscelis Papua), Antarctic Peninsula
Gentoo Penguins are normally found on the shorelines of the Antarctic peninsular and on many sub-Antarctic islands. Gentoo penguins are monogamous during the breeding season, in that they stick to one partner - and some bonds can last a lifetime. The "divorce" rate in gentoos is less than 20 percent, which is low compared to other penguins. Females lay 2 eggs in September and the survival of the chicks is heavily dependent on food supply and absence of predators. Brown Skuas are the main predators for the chicks, whilst in the water, Weddell and Leopard seals both feed on the Gentoo Penguin.
