The Imperial Shag, otherwise known as the Imperial Cormorant, hunts in 'rafts', or large groups of hundreds which dive down together in "pursuit-diving" of fish, at up to 25 metres depth. Given that the Imperial Shag has a small range and is usually found in small populations, pollution or chance extreme weather events can threaten a whole colony.
