Jovelyn Cleofe works for Locally Managed Marine Area (LMMA) Network International in the Philippines. In this short video she gives her opinion on the PANORAMA - Solutions for a Healthy Planet online platform.
Jovelyn participated in the Blue Solutions Fair in March 2018, where she learned about the solution methodology, explored the PANORAMA online platform, exchanged knowledge with other practitioners from the Asia-Pacific region and developed a new solution approach based on the newly received information.
In the Philippines, several of the LMMA Network partners and community members have been engaging in various land and marine based livelihoods in the past 5 to 10 years, to reduce fishing pressure and at the same time improve income and income sources of fishers. However, extreme weather events such as, but not limited to, El Niño/La Niña have negatively affected various livelihoods. Climate adaptive technologies e.g. for seaweed farming were piloted and introduced to the fishers to reduce impacts of these extreme weather events. Still, there remain many open challenges and questions.
