The Kamchatka Peninsula separates the Sea of Okhtosk from the Bering Sea and North Pacific Ocean. The area is home to a variety of species of plants and trees and one of the more common tree species is the elfin cedar which from above resembles a dark thick carpet covering the hills and valleys. The trees are known for their medicinal effects and produce good quality firewood.
