Indonesia High Integrity Blue Carbon Market
This project aims to provide technical support to Indonesia for the development of a Blue Carbon Market
This IUCN-led project is a four-year collaboration that addresses Aichi Target 11. The goal is to improve biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation by promoting and strengthening diverse and equitable governance of protected areas.
The project focuses on identified protected areas in Vietnam, Colombia, Peru and Kenya, all highly biodiverse and especially vulnerable to climate change impacts. Activities at the site level in each selected protected area includes assessing governance processes and mapping of major site values. The project will take a participatory approach to mapping natural and cultural values of the protected areas and engage with park agencies, civil society, protected and conserved area stakeholders, staff and site managers.
GRID-Arendal delivers GIS and participatory planning technical support to protected areas selected by the project. This task involves close coordination with project teams and partners at the inception, planning and implementation stages of project activities within each target area.
The project is funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI). Project results will inform international policy and global practice on the positive links between robust good governance and biodiversity and climate change outcomes.
