Science as a foundation for good environmental governance and systems change.

As GRID-Arendal’s Chief Scientist, I guide the organisation’s scientific direction to ensure our work is at the forefront of evidence-based decision making to tackle the triple planetary crisis of climate change, nature loss and pollution. I work across the organization to ensure that we focus on addressing the root causes of ecological decline and shift systems to ensure sustainable long-term solutions that ensure healthy people and healthy nature.

What I Bring

I bring over 25 years of experience working on the science-policy interface – motivating decision makers to act based on accessible and understandable science. I focus on developing solutions to tackle the triple planetary crisis and creating transformative change by shifting systems and structures to ensure these solutions are sustained over the long term. I have a strong track record in turning complex science into actionable insights, leading multidisciplinary teams, and driving innovation in ecosystem-based management.

My Focus Areas

  • Catalytic Knowledge & Insight Generation
  • Collaborative Facilitation & Transformative Engagement
  • Systems Intelligence & Project Stewardship

In My Own Words

″Science is a foundation for good environmental governance — making science accessible and understandable for policy and decision makers is an important driver of my work. At GRID-Arendal, we work to ensure that scientific knowledge leads to meaningful, inclusive action.″
