Science-Policy Interface for Plastic Pollution
This report outlines potential functions of the science-policy interface for plastic pollution and providing recommendations
I graduated from the Latvian University as a chemist and received training in Baltic Sea environmental engineering in Sweden. At GRID-Arendal, I am working on pollution issues in the natural environment, particularly in countries with emerging economies and developing countries such as the Balkans, the South Caucasus and Central Asia. My specific thematic knowledge and extensive practical experience is on environmental and cross-discipline issues such as environmental crime and security issues. This is complemented by a good knowledge of the geopolitical situation in selected regions, including political limitations and cultural sensitivities.
My work involves applied research including field trips, developing new methods and communicating with different stakeholders. It also includes implementing a number of capacity building training programs working with governments and non-governmental organizations. The results of my work are often captured in environmental assessment reports or innovative communication products.
