The FARE project is dedicated to creating the First steps towards an Assessment of plastic Risk to the Norwegian Environment. With consideration for the environmental impact of plastic pollution, it is vital that when assessing micro and macro plastic contamination in the environment, we do so in the context of risk. The FARE project will enhance our current scientific knowledge while facilitating the management of plastic debris in Norway by producing a toolbox for assessing the quality of macro and microplastic exposure, and its effects on the environment.

In doing so, the project also supports meta-assessments, to review the quality of research methodologies and standards implemented. By doing so, FARE will encourage the development and implementation of national, regional or global monitoring programmes in line with the requirements of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) while facilitating thee exchange of monitoring results in future.
