I have been working in the environment field for almost two decades, focusing mainly on integrated environmental assessment and reporting, as well as project management. My academic background is in agriculture, being a holder of a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a Masters in Crop Protection, both from the University of Zimbabwe. I also studied for a Masters in Business Administration with Nottingham Trent University.

Some of the notable achievements in my professional career include my roles as co-chair of the GEO-6 Africa Regional Assessment; co-coordinating lead author for chapter 9 (Africa) of the fifth Global Environment Outlook (GEO-5); co-coordinating lead author for chapter 6 (Regional Perspectives) of the fourth Global Environment Outlook (GEO-4) report; and coordinating lead author for the third Africa Environment Outlook. I have also contributed significantly to the research, writing and review of more than 10 sub-regional (southern Africa), regional (Africa) and global state of environment reports.

At GRID-Arendal, I lead activities whose geographical scope is Africa. Lately, most of these activities have had a focus on transboundary water resources management, with major outputs that include Atlases for the Zambezi River Basin, Lake Victoria and the Limpopo River Basin.

Prior to joining GRID-Arendal, I was a senior manager at the Southern African Research and Documentation Centre where I was part of the team that put together various environmental outlook reports for southern Africa.
