The United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) is the world’s highest-level decision-making body on the environment. It addresses the critical environmental challenges facing the world's past, present and future. Since 2014, UNEA has passed four resolutions on marine litter, reflecting the global leadership and common understanding of plastic pollution.
The UNEA resolutions on marine litter and microplastics are important documents highlighting the global concern of marine litter and microplastics. They show what all the Member Parties of the United Nations agree on and their vision for the future. Through various communication products including videos, booklets, websites and meetings, GRID-Arendal is informing policy- and decision-makers and organisations about the resolutions and their content. We believe that easier access to information will improve the UN processes and outcomes of the future UNEAs.
