Capacity development to access risks in the coastal zone associated with climate change

The Pacific CTCN – UNIDO funded project provides technical assistance in response to requests from countries. GRID- Arendal is working with four low-lying island states- Palau, Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands and Kiribati. These states are considered especially vulnerable to climate change induced sea level rise and extreme weather events. GRID-Arendal is leading a consortium that includes the Secretariat of the Pacific Community and the University of Sydney to provide technical support and training for personnel from the four target countries to collate available data and information, develop standardized metadata for bathymetric and coastal surveys, and integrate these data into products (standardized bathymetric grids and digital elevation grids).
