Frozen Arctic: Horizon scan of interventions to slow down, halt, and reverse the effects of climate change in the Arctic and northern regions
This short report presents the findings of Phase I of the Frozen Arctic Conservation project.
Championing knowledge networks to empower Arctic communities and ecosystems.
As President of the University of the Arctic (UArctic), I am dedicated to fostering collaboration among institutions across the circumpolar North. My journey began with a foundation in geology and evolved into a commitment to integrating scientific knowledge with policy and community engagement to address the unique challenges of the Arctic region. What I Bring
My academic background in Precambrian geology and isotope geochemistry laid the groundwork for a career centred on environmental stewardship. At GRID-Arendal, I served as Polar Programme Manager, contributing to the early development of the Arctic Council and working closely with Indigenous Peoples’ Organisations. Since 2002, I have led UArctic, expanding its network to over 200 member institutions across 20 countries. Together, we have established thematic networks and institutes that promote education and research tailored to the needs of northern communities. My Focus Areas
