Resilient Mountain Solutions
The Resilient Mountain Solutions (RMS) is an initiative developed and led by ICIMOD.
This book presents 10 efficient, cost-effective and custom-made solutions that have been tested in the Hindu Kush Himalayan (HKH) region and are suitable for up-scaling and out-scaling to other regions. Each solution can contribute to several of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and thus help ensure a better future for all. The 10 solutions showcased here are examples of a large number of diverse, nature-based solutions that provide long-term benefits to local communities, their environment and livelihoods by increasing their resilience to change.
The Resilient Mountain Solutions – 10 solutions for climate change adaptation in the Hindu Kush Himalaya has been produced by the Resilient Mountain Solutions (RMS) Initiative at International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), in collaboration with GRID-Arendal, Norway.
ICIMOD is an intergovernmental knowledge and learning centre that develops and shares research, information, and innovations to empower people in the eight regional member countries of the HKH – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan.
GRID-Arendal is a non-profit, environmental communications organisation in the heart of Arendal, Norway, working internationally to support sustainable development through communicating information that strengthens capacity and motivates action.
This work is funded by the Government of Norway, the Government of Sweden, and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation.
