The year 2022 marked a return to mostly normal operations for GRID-Arendal, with more travel in connection with projects and a fully open office.

After two years of uncertainty and new challenges, this year marked a chance for the organisation to come together and spend time forging connections. In Svalbard, we were able to experience the impact of the climate crisis on one of the most vulnerable ecosystems in the world with our own eyes, strengthening our resolve to continue our work.

This year’s annual report is titled “Forging the future”, with the idea behind it being that we use the challenges we face as a society to create an even stronger tomorrow. As temperatures rise and records are broken year after year, the metaphorical iron of action is hot and ready to be struck with force and conviction.

As we navigate a constantly-changing world, it is imperative that our future is not a repetition of the past but something entirely new. At GRID-Arendal, we are proud to be leaders, innovators, and collaborators, working for the betterment of the environment every day.
