The Assessment Oceanic Blue Carbon in the UAE: Biomass Carbon Mechanism with a Focus on Abu Dhabi Emirate report aims to provide a first-level assessment of an oceanic blue carbon mechanism -biomass carbon - within the United Arab Emirates. The principal investigators have utilized existing datasets and methodologies to quantify and assess the capacity for fish, cetaceans, dugongs, sea turtles, and seabirds inhabiting UAE’s marine environment to store and sequester carbon. The analysis represents the world’s first national oceanic blue carbon scientific assessment and will allow relevant policy and management entities in the UAE to improve understanding of this value in relations to the potential implementation of related policies at the local and national levels.
