Fitter Fish for Stocking Purposes

Atlantic salmon, European eel and sturgeon are all diadromous fish, migrating between freshwater and marine habitats for the purpose of spawning. Historically, these iconic species have all been of major cultural and economic significance in Europe, and a major contributor to rural employment. Unfortunately, wild populations of these fish are now seriously threatened by pollution, habitat loss, predation from non-native fish species, damming of rivers and overfishing.
