Himalayan Climate Change Adaptation Programme - HICAP
HICAP is producing knowledge on how climate change affects natural resources, ecosystem services, and the communities that depend on them.
This document addresses climate change induced hazards such as floods, landslides, and droughts imposing significant stresses on the livelihoods of mountain people and downstream populations. It looks forward to improving society's adaptation strategies, and leveling structural inequalities that make adaptation by poor people more difficult, by strengthening local knowledge, innovations, and practices within social and ecological systems as well as strengthening the functioning of institutions relevant for adaptation.
