Flood occurrence / Drought severity
The observed and predicted changes in precipitation, with more in the north-west and less in the south, will exacerbate the existing problems of water availability. Additionally, higher temperatures will increase evaporation rates across the region, thereby reducing available water resources. This applies in particular to the western slopes of the southern Tropical Andes.
