Kenya is ranked second in Africa in terms of bird and mammal species richness and is home to the World's tallest land animal, the Giraffe. There are three sub-species found in this area which are to be seen wherever trees occur in Kenya. The rarest giraffe, the Rothschild Giraffe is one of these three and there are believed to be only 670 living in the wild. There are less of these Giraffes than there are African Elephants, which is mostly attributed to the destruction of their natural habitat by farming developments.
