H2020 ECOPOTENTIAL
The project delivers products of Earth Observation data to understand and monitor changes to ecosystems.
How satellites are safeguarding Europe's nature / An ECOPOTENTIAL story
As remote sensing technologies have advanced through the decades, so too has our human footprint on the planet. While the task of reversing these trends rests on human actions, remote sensing has a huge role to play, by providing timely, regular and accurate information about the health of our planet.
The ECOPOTENTIAL project was established to deliver freely-accessible Earth observation products to monitor, understand the status and predict changes in ecosystems and the services they provide, supporting the management and conservation of protected areas.
The goal of this storymap is to communicate some of the exciting advances in the field of remote sensing for improving ecological knowledge, and subsequent modelling and analysis, and to highlight how scientists and protected area managers are working together to solve one the most pressing challenge of our time: keeping our nature healthy and alive.
