Marine Environment
Developing ways to capture the fundamental role of healthy ecosystems for social and economic development.
I am a humanitarian turned environmentalist with a focus on protecting oceans and coastal areas.
At GRID-Arendal, I have the privilege of managing the Marine Environment Programme together with a highly competent team of experts. We focus on building capacity of coastal states in ecosystem-based and integrated ocean management, strengthening the incorporation of nature-positive solutions in marine and coastal environments, and promoting sustainable blue economies.
Before joining GRID-Arendal, I worked for 15 years on humanitarian and human rights issues. I worked with the Norwegian Refugee Council, the United Nations’ Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights. My experience includes management and strategic development of programmes, protection, advocacy and the integration of climate and environment issues. Geographically, my work has been focused on Latin America, West and Central Africa, where I have also been based for several years. I hold a Master’s degree in Comparative Politics from the University of Bergen.
In my freetime, I like sewing and sailing. Although, I am happiest doing one at a time.
