Household Air Pollution
Nearly 3 billion people continue to rely on biomass for cooking. This exposes them to a number of dangerous pollutants that have been linked to lower respiratory infections, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cancer and a host of other child and adult health problems. These include low birth weight, perinatal mortality, asthma, middle ear infection, tuberculosis, nasopharyngeal cancer, cataracts, blindness, and cardiovascular disease.
