Case Study #4: Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation (CCEF), Philippines

"Communicating Ecosystem-based Management" is a UN Environment/GRID-Arendal report that strives to highlight practical examples in the communication of ecosystem-based management. These case studies were chosen to reflect the diversity of communication objectives and approaches, which could be dependent on factors such as the scale of implementation, geography, entry point, target audience, messages and budget.

In the southern Philippines, the Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation (CCEF) runs programmes to sustain coastal and marine biodiversity and improve local communities’ quality of life. CCEF emphasizes the value of and need for community based resource management – particularly community based MPAs.
