One of GRID-Arendal's main objectives is to support the global activities of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Having earlier provided UNEP with technical expertise in establishing its global telecommunications programme (UNEPnet), we were asked by UNEP last year to administer and maintain the technical side of this global programme and to develop it further. During 1998, major progress was made.
