Blue Carbon Financing of Mangrove Conservation In The Abidjan Convention Region
The coast of West, Central and Southern Africa contains approximately 14 per cent of the world’s mangrove area.
I started at GRID-Arendal in early 2014 as a Project Manager for Marine Ecosystem Services projects. My core areas of work include projects on Blue carbon, Green economy, and TEEB for Oceans and Coasts, as well as developing other ecosystem service projects as the opportunity arises.
I have over 10 years of experience in marine conservation in both academic and NGO environments on both the east and west coasts of Canada, with a focus on deep water coral, marine spatial planning and blue carbon projects. Before arriving at GRID-Arendal, I worked as a consultant for the Marine Planning Partnership for the North Pacific Coast (MaPP) where I provided technical expertise to the overall effort while specifically supporting the Haida Gwaii and Central Coast planning processes. During this time I also worked with several groups to develop Blue Carbon science and policy on the coast of British Columbia.
In 2010, I was awarded a Kinship Conservation Fellowship, a highly prestigious international award focused on linking economics and conservation.
